The latest version of the ancient game of cricket is aimed at attracting a younger audience and the World Cup will see 12 national teams competing.&lt;br /&gt;Twenty 20 was first introduced in England as a means of getting more people to attend cricket matches. The matches were much shorter than other forms of the game and were aimed squarely at families and younger generations.&lt;br /&gt;The format has largely been viewed as a success, attracting large crowds and a greater number of cricket enthusiasts.&lt;br /&gt;Later this year, South Africa will host the inaugural Twenty 20 World Cup. The participating nations are South Africa, the West Indies, Bangladesh, Kenya, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Scotland, India, Australia, Zimbabwe and England.&lt;br /&gt;Predicting how each of the teams will perform in the competition is not easy - being the first of its kind means that many of the countries won't have much of a track record.&lt;br /&gt;Many believe that Australia will be the team to beat. According to Hindu calendar it begins in the month of October (asveja masam). This festival is fully dedicated to Durga Mata and in these nine days she will be worshiped in her nine forms and at the end of the (9th day) 10th day will be celebrated as (Vijayadasami) Dasara&lt;br /&gt;Dasara is most popular in the west Bengal (Eastern) part of India and this is their major festival. The first 3 days will be worshiped in the form of Durga Mata and the next 3 days will be in the form of Saraswati and the final 3 days will be in the form of Lakshmi.&lt;br /&gt;Normally the fifth day of Navratri will be worshiped for Saraswati (Goddess of knowledge) to invoke our spirit and knowledge.&lt;br /&gt;STORIES&lt;br /&gt;Navratri is a combination of various themes with the common summary is victory of good over bad. Some opinion that this festival is celebrated when the lord Rama killed the Ravana. According to Puranas the mighty demon Mahisasur vanquished the gods and their king, Indra. They then approached the Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwar, who decided to destroy the megalomaniac demon, so they all combined their energy, and gave rise to Shakti. They all prayed to the divine mother Durga to do the needful. Equipped with lethal weapons, riding a ferocious lion, the Goddess in all her awesome majesty, vanquished the evil one without much ado. The 10th day on which the goddess kills Mahisasur, is celebrated as Dusshera or Vijayadasami as the victory of good over evil. Dasara (tenth day) is one of the significant Hindu festivals, celebrated with much joie de vivre in the entire country.&lt;br /&gt;Celebrations&lt;br /&gt;The festival is also celebrated with intense fervor and zest, in whole India, in the form of Durga Puja. The vibrant festivities last for ten days, of which nine nights are spent in worship, 'Navaratri'. But this festival varies from place to place.&lt;br /&gt;EAST&lt;br /&gt;In West-Bengal, Navratri is the real lyrics of the Bengali life. This festival is essentially religious in nature. It is celebrated with true devotion. In the time of Durga Puja huge idols of the Mata Durga posed as killing the demon Mahishasura are worshipped in everywhere of the state. Huge&lt;br /&gt;'Pandals’ are set up everywhere to worship Durga Mata (Goddess Durga). The tenth day is devoted to the worship of goddess Durga. She is Shakti, the cosmic energy that animates all beings. Beautiful idols of the Mother Goddess are worshipped in elaborate pandals for nine days, and on the ninth day, these are carried out in procession for immersion (visarjan) in a river or pond.&lt;br /&gt;WEST&lt;br /&gt;In Maharashtra, Navratri celebration is slightly different than other states. Here Navratri are dedicated to Goddess Durga while the Vijayadasami is dedicated to Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge. This day is considered auspicious to begin education, buy new homes, start new ventures, and weddings. The Dasara of Mysore is also quite famous where caparisoned elephants lead a colorful procession through the gaily-dressed streets of the city. During Navratri Chamundi, the royal deity of the Mysore royalty is worshipped with pomp and pageantry.&lt;br /&gt;NORTH&lt;br /&gt;In the Kulu valley in Himachal Pradesh, the hill- folk celebrate Dasara with a grand mass ceremony wherein village deities are taken out in elaborate processions. In Punjab, Navratri is taken as a period of fasting.&lt;br /&gt;SOUTH&lt;br /&gt;In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, women arrange 'Bommai Kolu', a special placing of dolls in various costumes decorated with flowers and ornaments on specially prepared steps. It is also celebrated as a remembrance of the victory of Lord Rama (an incarnation of Vishnu) over Ravana, the king of Lanka who had abducted Sita, wife of Rama.&lt;br /&gt;Dussehra is celebrated at the end of Navaratri, a nine-day festival. Images of Durga are worshipped during the Navaratri festival and stories related to the goddess and to the conquest of good over evil are told. Navaratri is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Gujarat, Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Prayers, devotional songs and colorful rituals mark the occasion of Navaratri and Dussehra.Ramilila is another exciting feature of this festival where the story of Rama, the God King of Ayodhyaya is depicted in a dance-drama form on all ten days of celebration.&lt;br /&gt;On the 10th day i.e. the day of Dussehra, buffaloes representing the buffalo-demon Mahisasura are sacrificed to the goddess. The evening of Dussehra sees the burning of the colorful effigies of Ravana, complete with 10 heads and curling moustaches, and those of his son and brother. This spectacle is marked by setting off of a fusillade of fire-crackers and the triumph of good over evil is commemorated once again.&lt;br /&gt;The legend underlying the celebration, as also its mode of conduct, varies vastly by region; however, all festivities celebrate the victory of the forces of Good over Evil. It is also considered to be an auspicious day to begin new things in life. It is the largest festival of Nepal and celebrated by Hindu and non-Hindu as well.&lt;br /&gt;There is another and little-known legend associated with this festival, one associated with the Mahabharata. During the exile period of 12 years that the Pandavas underwent after loosing a game against the Kauravas, they found it necessary to lay aside, for the length of the final year of their exile, the many divine and distinctive weapons that they possessed. These they hid under a 'Shami' tree in the vicinity* of their chosen place of incognito residence. At the end of a year, they returned to the spot, found their weaponry intact, and worshipped in thanksgiving both the Shami tree and the Goddess Durga, presiding deity of strength and victory. Meanwhile, the Kauravas had invaded that area, suspecting the residence of the Pandavas there. Upon finishing their devotions, the Pandavas made straight to battle, and won the contest comprehensively. The day that all these events occurred on has since been known as "Vijayadashami", where "Vijaya" is the sanskrit word for "Victory".&lt;br /&gt;The Navaratri celebration is also an annual spectale in Maysore and is a must see for anyone traveling to this part of India during this time of the year. One of the latest offerings from the stable of Sony’s digital camera series is the DSC T1200 Cyber shot. It inherits the slim, metallic profile and signature sliding lens cover/power switch from the rest of the Cyber-shot T-series.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;With the T100 Sony has been successful in delivering a powerful combination of style and substance.&lt;br /&gt;With the cameras all metal body measuring just about .875 –inch thick, a weight of bit more than six ounces and extremely sleek and stylish features it comes out as an extremely handy and portable device. It also comes in three different colors of Red, Black and Silver (with the black being a personal favorite) .&lt;br /&gt;The technical features of the camera are also very impressive. The 8-mega-pixel camera has features a 35mm- to – 175mm, equivalent to 5X optical zoom, Carl Zeiss lens. Its 3-inch screen display offers a great way to view the shots.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The T100 uses Sony's Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization technology and delivers a supper steady shot, reducing blur to a great extent. Its face-detection mode automatically adjusts exposures when shooting soft snaps. It also gives the option to tweak color, correct red-eye, and even apply different effects such as fish-eye and cross filter, all within the camera. The T100 can also output MP3-playing slide shows to standard definition TVs and HDTV. It also offers a variety of effects during the slide show. It spurred a session of soliloquy during which the question popped up again and again in my mind, “Is it really possible to attain this so called state of completely unperturbed mind?” I guess the question might seem a very quintessential one, which every other person asks himself or herself, but the interesting thing would be, to know if any one has found an answer to it or even come close to an answer. Yogis and sadhus have spent their entire life time trying to find an answer for the same and we could say many have even been successful in reaching this seemingly impossible goal. One of the first names that come to mind is Ramakrishna Paramahansa and his favorite disciple Swami Vivekananda.&lt;br /&gt;It would be a very challenging and difficult goal to achieve, but none the less one which we can always aspire for. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we&lt;br /&gt;step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a&lt;br /&gt;nation, long suppressed, finds utterance. It is fitting that at this solemn&lt;br /&gt;moment we take the pledge of dedication to the service of India and her people&lt;br /&gt;and to the still larger cause of humanity.&lt;br /&gt;At the dawn of history India&lt;br /&gt;started on her unending quest, and trackless centuries are filled with her&lt;br /&gt;striving and the grandeur of her success and her failures. Through good and ill&lt;br /&gt;fortune alike she has never lost sight of that quest or forgotten the ideals&lt;br /&gt;which gave her strength. We end today a period of ill fortune and India&lt;br /&gt;discovers herself again. The achievement we celebrate today is but a step, an&lt;br /&gt;opening of opportunity, to the greater triumphs and achievements that await us.&lt;br /&gt;Are we brave enough and wise enough to grasp this opportunity and accept the&lt;br /&gt;challenge of the future?&lt;br /&gt;Freedom and power bring responsibility. The&lt;br /&gt;responsibility rests upon this Assembly, a sovereign body representing the&lt;br /&gt;sovereign people of India. Before the birth of freedom we have endured all the&lt;br /&gt;pains of labour and our hearts are heavy with the memory of this sorrow. Some of&lt;br /&gt;those pains continue even now. Nevertheless, the past is over and it is the&lt;br /&gt;future that beckons to us now.&lt;br /&gt;That future is not one of ease or resting but&lt;br /&gt;of incessant striving so that we may fulfil the pledges we have so often taken&lt;br /&gt;and the one we shall take today. The service of India means the service of the&lt;br /&gt;millions who suffer. It means the ending of poverty and ignorance and disease&lt;br /&gt;and inequality of opportunity. The ambition of the greatest man of our&lt;br /&gt;generation has been to wipe every tear from every eye. That may be beyond us,&lt;br /&gt;but as long as there are tears and suffering, so long our work will not be&lt;br /&gt;over.&lt;br /&gt;And so we have to labour and to work, and work hard, to give reality to&lt;br /&gt;our dreams. Those dreams are for India, but they are also for the world, for all&lt;br /&gt;the nations and peoples are too closely knit together today for any one of them&lt;br /&gt;to imagine that it can live apart Peace has been said to be indivisible; so is&lt;br /&gt;freedom, so is prosperity now, and so also is disaster in this One World that&lt;br /&gt;can no longer be split into isolated fragments.&lt;br /&gt;To the people of India, whose&lt;br /&gt;representatives we are, we make an appeal to join us with faith and confidence&lt;br /&gt;in this great adventure. This is no time for petty and destructive criticism, no&lt;br /&gt;time for ill-will or blaming others.&lt;br /&gt;We have to build the noble mansion of&lt;br /&gt;free India where all her children may dwell. The appointed day has come-the day&lt;br /&gt;appointed by destiny-and India stands forth again, after long slumber and&lt;br /&gt;struggle, awake, vital, free and independent. The past clings on to us still in&lt;br /&gt;some measure and we have to do much before we redeem the pledges we have so&lt;br /&gt;often taken. Yet the turning-point is past, and history begins anew for us, the&lt;br /&gt;history which we shall live and act and others will write about.&lt;br /&gt;It is a&lt;br /&gt;fateful moment for us in India, for all Asia and for the world. A new star&lt;br /&gt;rises, the star of freedom in the East, a new hope comes into being, a vision&lt;br /&gt;long cherished materializes. May the star never set and that hope never be&lt;br /&gt;betrayed! We rejoice in that freedom, even though clouds surround us, and many&lt;br /&gt;of our people are sorrowstricken and difficult problems encompass us. But&lt;br /&gt;freedom brings responsibilities and burdens and we have to face them in the&lt;br /&gt;spirit of a free and disciplined people.&lt;br /&gt;On this day our first thoughts go to&lt;br /&gt;the architect of this freedom, the Father of our Nation [Gandhi], who, embodying&lt;br /&gt;the old spirit of India, held aloft the torch of freedom and lighted up the&lt;br /&gt;darkness that surrounded us. We have often been unworthy followers of his and&lt;br /&gt;have strayed from his message, but not only we but succeeding generations will&lt;br /&gt;remember this message and bear the imprint in their hearts of this great son of&lt;br /&gt;India, magnificent in his faith and strength and courage and humility. We shall&lt;br /&gt;never allow that torch of freedom to be blown out, however high the wind or&lt;br /&gt;stormy the tempest.&lt;br /&gt;Our next thoughts must be of the unknown volunteers and&lt;br /&gt;soldiers of freedom who, without praise or reward, have served India even unto&lt;br /&gt;death. We think also of our brothers and sisters who have been cut off from us&lt;br /&gt;by political boundaries and who unhappily cannot share at present in the freedom&lt;br /&gt;that has come. They are of us and will remain of us whatever may happen, and we&lt;br /&gt;shall be sharers in their good [or] ill fortune alike.&lt;br /&gt;The future beckons to&lt;br /&gt;us. Whither do we go and what shall be our endeavour? To bring freedom and&lt;br /&gt;opportunity to the common man, to the peasants and workers of India; to fight&lt;br /&gt;and end poverty and ignorance and disease; to build up a prosperous, democratic&lt;br /&gt;and progressive nation, and to create social, economic and political&lt;br /&gt;institutions which will ensure justice and fullness of life to every man and&lt;br /&gt;woman.&lt;br /&gt;We have hard work ahead. There is no resting for any one of us till we&lt;br /&gt;redeem our pledge in full, till we make all the people of India what destiny&lt;br /&gt;intended them to be. We are citizens of a great country on the verge of bold&lt;br /&gt;advance, and we have to live up to that high standard. All of us, to whatever&lt;br /&gt;religion we may belong, are equally the children of India with equal rights,&lt;br /&gt;privileges and obligations. We cannot encourage communalism or&lt;br /&gt;narrow-mindedness, for no nation can be great whose people are narrow in thought&lt;br /&gt;or in action.&lt;br /&gt;To the nations and peoples of the world we send greetings and&lt;br /&gt;pledge ourselves to cooperate with them in furthering peace, freedom and&lt;br /&gt;democracy. And to India, our much-loved motherland, the ancient, the eternal and the ever-new, we pay our reverent homage and we bind ourselves afresh to her&lt;br /&gt;service. I never graduated from&lt;br /&gt;college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college&lt;br /&gt;graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No&lt;br /&gt;big deal. Just three stories.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first story is about connecting the&lt;br /&gt;dots.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then&lt;br /&gt;stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So&lt;br /&gt;why did I drop out?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It started before I was born. My biological mother&lt;br /&gt;was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for&lt;br /&gt;adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates,&lt;br /&gt;so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his&lt;br /&gt;wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they&lt;br /&gt;really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in&lt;br /&gt;the middle of the night asking: "We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want&lt;br /&gt;him?" They said: "Of course." My biological mother later found out that my&lt;br /&gt;mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated&lt;br /&gt;from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only&lt;br /&gt;relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to&lt;br /&gt;college.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a&lt;br /&gt;college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class&lt;br /&gt;parents' savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I&lt;br /&gt;couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and&lt;br /&gt;no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending&lt;br /&gt;all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop&lt;br /&gt;out and trust that it would all work out OK. It was pretty scary at the time,&lt;br /&gt;but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The minute I&lt;br /&gt;dropped out I could stop taking the required classes that didn't interest me,&lt;br /&gt;and begin dropping in on the ones that looked interesting.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It wasn't all&lt;br /&gt;romantic. I didn't have a dorm room, so I slept on the floor in friends' rooms,&lt;br /&gt;I returned coke bottles for the 5¢ deposits to buy food with, and I would walk&lt;br /&gt;the 7 miles across town every Sunday night to get one good meal a week at the&lt;br /&gt;Hare Krishna temple. I loved it. And much of what I stumbled into by following&lt;br /&gt;my curiosity and intuition turned out to be priceless later on. Let me give you&lt;br /&gt;one example:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Reed College at that time offered perhaps the best&lt;br /&gt;calligraphy instruction in the country. Throughout the campus every poster,&lt;br /&gt;every label on every drawer, was beautifully hand calligraphed. Because I had&lt;br /&gt;dropped out and didn't have to take the normal classes, I decided to take a&lt;br /&gt;calligraphy class to learn how to do this. I learned about serif and san serif&lt;br /&gt;typefaces, about varying the amount of space between different letter&lt;br /&gt;combinations, about what makes great typography great. It was beautiful,&lt;br /&gt;historical, artistically subtle in a way that science can't capture, and I found&lt;br /&gt;it fascinating.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;None of this had even a hope of any practical&lt;br /&gt;application in my life. But ten years later, when we were designing the first&lt;br /&gt;Macintosh computer, it all came back to me. And we designed it all into the Mac.&lt;br /&gt;It was the first computer with beautiful typography. If I had never dropped in&lt;br /&gt;on that single course in college, the Mac would have never had multiple&lt;br /&gt;typefaces or proportionally spaced fonts. And since Windows just copied the Mac,&lt;br /&gt;its likely that no personal computer would have them. If I had never dropped&lt;br /&gt;out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal&lt;br /&gt;computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was&lt;br /&gt;impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was&lt;br /&gt;very, very clear looking backwards ten years later.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Again, you can't&lt;br /&gt;connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.&lt;br /&gt;So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have&lt;br /&gt;to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach&lt;br /&gt;has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My&lt;br /&gt;second story is about love and loss.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was lucky — I found what I loved&lt;br /&gt;to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents garage when I was 20.&lt;br /&gt;We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a&lt;br /&gt;garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees. We had just released&lt;br /&gt;our finest creation — the Macintosh — a year earlier, and I had just turned 30.&lt;br /&gt;And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as&lt;br /&gt;Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company&lt;br /&gt;with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of&lt;br /&gt;the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did,&lt;br /&gt;our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly&lt;br /&gt;out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was&lt;br /&gt;devastating.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt&lt;br /&gt;that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down - that I had&lt;br /&gt;dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob&lt;br /&gt;Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public&lt;br /&gt;failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something&lt;br /&gt;slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. The turn of events at&lt;br /&gt;Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in&lt;br /&gt;love. And so I decided to start over.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I didn't see it then, but it&lt;br /&gt;turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever&lt;br /&gt;happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness&lt;br /&gt;of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one&lt;br /&gt;of the most creative periods of my life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;During the next five years, I&lt;br /&gt;started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with&lt;br /&gt;an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the worlds&lt;br /&gt;first computer animated feature film, Toy Story, and is now the most successful&lt;br /&gt;animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought&lt;br /&gt;NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the&lt;br /&gt;heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family&lt;br /&gt;together.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't&lt;br /&gt;been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient&lt;br /&gt;needed it. Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith.&lt;br /&gt;I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I&lt;br /&gt;did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it&lt;br /&gt;is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and&lt;br /&gt;the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And&lt;br /&gt;the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it&lt;br /&gt;yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know&lt;br /&gt;when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and&lt;br /&gt;better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My third story is about death.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When I was 17, I read a quote&lt;br /&gt;that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday&lt;br /&gt;you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then,&lt;br /&gt;for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked&lt;br /&gt;myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am&lt;br /&gt;about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a&lt;br /&gt;row, I know I need to change something.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remembering that I'll be dead&lt;br /&gt;soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big&lt;br /&gt;choices in life. Because almost everything — all external expectations, all&lt;br /&gt;pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the&lt;br /&gt;face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are&lt;br /&gt;going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have&lt;br /&gt;something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your&lt;br /&gt;heart.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;About a year ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I had a scan at&lt;br /&gt;7:30 in the morning, and it clearly showed a tumor on my pancreas. I didn't even&lt;br /&gt;know what a pancreas was. The doctors told me this was almost certainly a type&lt;br /&gt;of cancer that is incurable, and that I should expect to live no longer than&lt;br /&gt;three to six months. My doctor advised me to go home and get my affairs in&lt;br /&gt;order, which is doctor's code for prepare to die. It means to try to tell your&lt;br /&gt;kids everything you thought you'd have the next 10 years to tell them in just a&lt;br /&gt;few months. It means to make sure everything is buttoned up so that it will be&lt;br /&gt;as easy as possible for your family. It means to say your goodbyes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I&lt;br /&gt;lived with that diagnosis all day. Later that evening I had a biopsy, where they&lt;br /&gt;stuck an endoscope down my throat, through my stomach and into my intestines,&lt;br /&gt;put a needle into my pancreas and got a few cells from the tumor. I was sedated,&lt;br /&gt;but my wife, who was there, told me that when they viewed the cells under a&lt;br /&gt;microscope the doctors started crying because it turned out to be a very rare&lt;br /&gt;form of pancreatic cancer that is curable with surgery. I had the surgery and&lt;br /&gt;I'm fine now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This was the closest I've been to facing death, and I hope&lt;br /&gt;its the closest I get for a few more decades. Having lived through it, I can now&lt;br /&gt;say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but&lt;br /&gt;purely intellectual concept:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No one wants to die. Even people who want&lt;br /&gt;to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination&lt;br /&gt;we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because&lt;br /&gt;Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change&lt;br /&gt;agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you,&lt;br /&gt;but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be&lt;br /&gt;cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Your time&lt;br /&gt;is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by&lt;br /&gt;dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let&lt;br /&gt;the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most&lt;br /&gt;important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow&lt;br /&gt;already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When I was young, there was an amazing publication called The Whole&lt;br /&gt;Earth Catalog, which was one of the bibles of my generation. It was created by a&lt;br /&gt;fellow named Stewart Brand not far from here in Menlo Park, and he brought it to&lt;br /&gt;life with his poetic touch. This was in the late 1960's, before personal&lt;br /&gt;computers and desktop publishing, so it was all made with typewriters, scissors,&lt;br /&gt;and polaroid cameras. It was sort of like Google in paperback form, 35 years&lt;br /&gt;before Google came along: it was idealistic, and overflowing with neat tools and&lt;br /&gt;great notions.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stewart and his team put out several issues of The Whole&lt;br /&gt;Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue.&lt;br /&gt;It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue&lt;br /&gt;was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find&lt;br /&gt;yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. type='text'>The iPhone Buzz</title><content type='html'>With the world being flooded with more and  more advanced gadgets , companies have become ever more competetive in producing state of  the art  and innovative products.&lt;br /&gt;The latest one to join the club is the iPhone developed by Apple Inc.iPhones are currently available only in US but it has already stirred up the imagination of people all around the world and is the most anticipated product of the year.Many industry experts see it as the next big revolution in the mobile phone technology.Apple is banking big on its latest wonder product and expects to add a new feather to its cap of successfull products which includes  the likes of  iPod and the Mac Computers.&lt;br /&gt;The popularity and market penetration  of  iPhone is  not only important for Apple but also for all the other companies involved in developing the ancilliary parts.For example Intel , Texas Instruments, Skyworks solution .The success of the product has the potential to change the f0rtunes of all the companies associated with it.&lt;br /&gt;We have already seen a remarkable rise in the shares of the companies involved.Apple could convert this wave into a tide if it could have the iPhone competatively priced so that the upper middle class people couldafford it.This will see a lot of people who vie for the smart phones , to shift to iPhone as it has a lot of new features not found in the smart phones.&lt;br /&gt;People outside the US will also be  keenly anticipating   the price of the iPhone ..With the iPhone sheduled to hit the Indian Markets somewhere in the middle of next year the price is going to play a major role in deciding the penetration of the product in the market.&lt;br /&gt;Probably Apple would follow a multi proned strategy by bringing out  different variants of the iPhone , for the low-end and the upmarket users.&lt;br /&gt;With people in the US queueing up to lay their hands on their iPhones,what remains to be seen though is how is the iPhone   going to fare in markets outside  US and how is it going to tackle the menace of lookalikes which have proved to be thorn in the neck for Apples the starting of a new venture ? Well i thought about it and then finally came to the conclusion that its the beginning which is the most vital.One could have a multitude of brilliant ideas which one believes could revolutonize the way people do things but unless they get converted into action all the ideas would eventually die their pittyful death.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Its the initial bold step that one has to take which is the most critical part of the entire process of trying to build something new.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The realization for the same came to me from a personal experience. We were a group of friends ,alwyas thinking about doing something different.We had lots of plans but no execution .Then one sunny day one of us gave the idea about organising a charity show for a NGO , and the idea hit us all like a boulder .Finally we were all thinking about converting our thoughts into action .We were actually a motely group of musicians , all amateurs. We composed our own song and organized a cultural event. The event was a great success and we gave all the proceedings from it to a social organization working on the education of childrens in the slum area. From this simple beginning I came to realize that its the first step which proves to be the most difficult part to overcome .&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I guess its not entirely wrong when they say that 'throw your hat over the fence , if you want to go the other side'. As the old chinese proverb goes 'The Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With A Single Step'.
